Once you are dissatisfied with the status quo, the anger and the hatred with the prevailing situation couple with the right mental model will help you to take the right decision and follow it with the right action that will propel you in the right direction. And you know what? Your decision today determines your reality tomorrow. You will not experience any meaningful desirable transformation until you decide what exactly you want.
It is good that you are dissatisfied with the current situation, but in addition to this, you must decide what exactly you want or where exactly you want to be. If you don’t have an idea of what you want or where you want to be and you are dissatisfied with your current position, most likely you will end up in another undesirable situation. For example, if you are not happy coping with Lagos traffic and other problems that come with residing in Lagos, the first thing you need to do is to decide what exactly you want your ideal city of residence to look like. Then you can identify cities and towns that meet your requirements and decide which of them you want to live in.
Let us look at another example. If you are not happy with your current financial status, the first thing you must do is to decide the level at which you want to play. This will give you an idea of what you must do to earn the kind of money you want.
Your decision gives you ideas of what you need to do, how you need to do them and when you need to do them to get to your desirable destination in life. Simply, your decision guides your actions to make what your desire a reality.
Your decision gives you ideas of what you need to do to bring about the desired transformation. But for the transformation to become a reality in your life, you must ACT. Ideas are powerful but only when they are acted upon. There can be no changes or transformation without ACTION. Isaac Newton, one of the greatest scientist to live on the face of planet earth stated in his first law of motion that:
“Every object remains in its state of rest or uniform motion unless it is acted upon by a force”
This law does not only apply to objects, it also applies to several other areas of our lives. Therefore, I am going to restate the law as: “Everything including an undesirable situation remains the way they are unless you act” For instance, if you put a cup on your dining table, it will remain in the same spot on the table unless you, somebody else or something move it away. Similarly, if you are in a situation you don’t like, you must do something about it to change the situation. The critical message in this law is that there can be no transformation unless you act.
In conclusion, I want you always remember that:
Transformation = Dissatisfaction + Mindset Change + Decision + Action
All these components must be present for you to experience positive transformation from where you are now to where you want to be.
