You Are The Product Of Your Thoughts

Whatever your circumstance today – rich or poor, success or a failure, happy or sad –  is nothing but the product of your thoughts. In a very simple manner, you are a product of your thoughts. You become what you think about. This is a universal principle that works. But it is very inflexible. It does not discriminate. If you feed your mind with positive thoughts, you achieve positive results. And conversely, if you feed your mind with negative thoughts you achieve negative results. Williams James said “the greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitude of mind.” Also, Marcus Aurelius in agreement with Williams said “A man’s life is what his thoughts make of it.” In the Bible, the book of proverbs 23:7 equally confirm this principle “For as he thinks in his heart so is he…..” Therefore, if you are not satisfied with your present circumstance in life and you want to change it, you need to change your thoughts.

Your Thoughts Determine who you are

Overtime, your thoughts mould you into who you are at the core of your being. Who you are is a function of how your mind is programmed. The way your mind is programmed determines your mindset. Your mindset determines your character which has overwhelming impact on your attitudes. Such attitudes include discipline, courage and persistent which determine your ability to do things that will transform your life. Your thoughts are very powerful programming language for your mind. They determine your mindset as well as how efficiently and effectively your mind works. But the good news is that you can control what you think about. You have the choice to determine what you think about, either positive or negative. If someone feeds his mind with negative thoughts of worries, fear, anxiety and confusion, his life becomes one of frustration, fear anxiety and worry. On the other hand, if another person feeds his mind with positive thoughts of a better tomorrow, concrete and worthwhile goals and work towards them, it will become a reality, because that is what he thinks about. Remember, you become what you think about! In human mind, thoughts are like seed planted in a fertile soil. Whatever you plant in the soil, you shall reap. If you plant corn, you reap corn and if you plant thorns and other useless seeds, you will surely harvest thorns and useless seeds. However, human mind is much more fertile than the most fertile land you can find anywhere in the world. Therefore, if you plant seeds of positive thoughts and vision of better tomorrow in your mind, you will reap abundant harvest of good quality ideas. These ideas, when acted upon will lead to realization of your goals, dreams and vision.

Who you are determines what you become

What you become in life is a reflection of who you are inside your mind. The quality of your life can never be better than the quality of your mind. It is however; also important to note that the quality of your mind is a function of the thoughts you feed your mind with. Hence, if you want to upgrade the quality of your life, all you need to do is to simply change your thinking. Feed your mind with positive thoughts. When you sow the seeds of positive thoughts in your mind and consequently reap abundant harvest of good quality great ideas, you will attract sufficient resources to realize your vision. Great ideas, when acted on have the capacity to attract any resources you need to transform your life. Ideas are powerful; they can transform your life from lack to abundance and from being a failure to a success. But don’t forget that ideas are products of programming your mind with positive thoughts. Considering the importance of positive thoughts, let me quickly give you some tips on how to form the habit of positive thinking before I conclude.

  • Associate with people who think positively
  • Read books that can inspire you to think positively
  • Be conscious of the programs you listen to on radio and watch on television
  • Make conscious effort to think positively. That is, control your thoughts deliberately
  • Stop worrying. Worries bring negative thoughts which cripple your mind and prevent it from soaring. Always remember, if you cannot soar in your mind, you cannot soar outside.
  • Each time any negative thought comes to your mind, replace it with the thought of your goals and a better tomorrow you desire.

Always keep it at the back of your mind that: you become what you think about. Start thinking positively today and transform your life. You can achieve whatever you want in life, if only you will allow your mind to soar as it was designed to do by God. Thank you for reading!

A great post Muyiwa. Thoughts actually are things and the life we live outside is a product of what goes on in our inside. No wonder the scripture counsels us to keep our heart with all diligence for out of it flows the issues of life. Thanks for this rich and well thought out piece!
