Begin With the End in Mind

What is your overall vision for your life? What do you intend to achieve in life? What will you like to be remembered for when you depart this world? Generally, human achievements and impacts to humanity is what determine whether they will even be remembered or not after leaving this world. Your achievements and impact to humanity is a function of your vision. If you really want to be successful in life, you must have vision. And this vision must always be taken into consideration in every decision you take in life. That is, your decisions and actions should always be in alignment with your vision. This is the key to successful life. However, talking about aligning your decisions and actions with your vision implies that you have a vision for your life. If you don’t have a vision for your life, there is nothing to align your decisions and actions with. Visionless life is just like a piece of paper that is being drifted around by wind. It has no specific direction, it goes wherever the wind blows it until it is blown into fire, bush, river or the ocean and eventually, it will be wasted. It is unfortunate that this is how most people live their life.

Having Vision Makes the Difference

The major difference between successful and unsuccessful people is vision. Successful people have great vision while unsuccessful people have no vision. Successful people have the ability to see great bright and better future. Seeing a better and desirable future inspires someone to have the goal of making his vision a reality. In other word, it can be rightly said that vision inspires goals and actions that lead to its manifestation. The foundation of a successful life is vision. If you don’t have a vision for your life, you will definitely not have any goal for your life. When you don’t have goals for your life, you will have no other option than to help other people pursue their goals and thereby make them successful while you live a mediocre life. Research has shown that almost all the world-class athletes and other peak performers in every life endeavors are visualizers. They see it, they feel it, and they experience it before they actually do it. Seeing it helps them to align and focus their actions towards achievement of their goals. That is, they begin with the end in mind. However, you need to understand clearly that you can only begin with the end in mind if only you have vision and goals for your life. This underscores the importance of having vision for your life.

Success Does Not Come By Accident

High achievers do not get the desired results by accident; rather, they begin with the end in mind working deliberately and consciously towards their vision. They know what they want and go for it. They know where they are going and consequently move in the right direction. Successful people don’t blame others for their undesirable circumstance; instead, they look for the circumstance they want and if they can’t find it they create it. What this means is that rather than blaming things and other people for their undesirable predicament, they do the following:

  1. They figure out what they really want to do with their life, that is, their vision
  2. They set goals which are in harmony with their vision
  3. Their actions are always in alignment with their goals and vision. That is, they always begin with the end in mind

The questions now are: Are you dissatisfied with your circumstance? Are you blaming others for your situations? You need to wake-up and face the reality. Being sad and blaming others will not solve your problem. Please stop blaming others and start gaining! Blaming others distracts your attention from dealing with the root cause of the problem thereby making it impossible to come out of the bad situation. Remember that when you point one finger to somebody, the other four are pointing to you. The way out of the undesirable situation is to examine yourself and find out what you really want to do with your life. Ask yourself this question: “what exactly do I want in life?” That is, figure out what your life vision is. This will help you to set your priorities right. Then you need to set goals that are in harmony with your vision. And finally, align your actions with your vision. This is the concept of beginning with the end in mind. It works for both individuals and corporate organizations. This concept makes it possible to focus and utilize every bit of your resources effectively. All over the world, successful individuals and organizations align their actions with their vision. They begin with the end in mind and achieved great results. This concept has worked for people in the past, is working for people and will surely work again. Therefore, if you apply it to your life, it will definitely work for you too and you will succeed beyond your wildest dreams. Thank you for reading.
